INNOVATION HUB
A coworking space based in the favela, with the aim of providing community leaders, NGOs, entrepreneurs and projects with access to quality equipment, technology, structure and training, cultivating a local entrepreneurial community that develops personally and professionally without traveling to far from home.
The space has hosted a collective of 10 organizations and local leaders, 5 entrepreneurs and 3 social organizations, and is the headquarters of Favela Inc. In addition, it hosts English and French classes, tours and university groups from all over the world. It will have a local product store and structure to embrace the needs of remote/hybrid teams that have emerged during the pandemic.
For 2021, the plan is to continue with the creation of workspaces to awaken a community of change agents. Our aim is to promote the right environment for social innovations to flourish. We will continue to provide our community with the spaces, connections and resources they need to work, connect, create and transform.
AGROFAVELA

VISION
Revealing the Invisible. The name, Vision, Visão in Portuguese, was inspired by the common slang in the favelas “Pega a Visão”. But what it really represents is the essence of our project, which is to give visibility to the vulnerable population of Rio's communities, hidden on the tops of the hill and invisible to the eyes of even those who want to help.
Through technology and partnership with local NGOs, we register and collect socioeconomic information from community residents and connect them to education projects, job opportunities and emergency resources. We have already registered more than 3000 families in Vidigal in partnership with 6 local NGOs.
Our dream is that “Any socioeconomically vulnerable person in Brazil will be registered, easily found by those who want to help them and have access to education, opportunities and guaranteed survival conditions”.
The plan for 2022 is the expansion of the project to Rocinha, one of the largest favelas in Latin America.
INCUBATION
Through our selection process, we select innovative favela projects. We understand the challenges you face. Our program is flexible, adaptable and reflects this. We provide 1-to-1 business consulting services for each of our incubators to understand their individual needs and challenges, helping them cultivate the path of least resistance to achieving their vision.
We have a success story in the 2018-19 round of incubation, which showed us that Favela Inc. has the ability to boost favela projects and thus transform lives.
This experience, in addition to positively impacting 5 organizations directly (more than 150 people indirectly) allowed us to identify key factors for the success of future meetings, as well as lessons learned in methodology, organizational setup and skills needed to achieve the objectives.
For 2022, we are forecasting the start of a new round with the inclusion of new partners.
VIDIGAL VIVE COLLECTIVE
Joining efforts and unifying resource mobilization initiatives to meet the needs generated by the pandemic, we joined 9 local partners — among NGOs and community leaders from the Vidigal favela and created Vidigal Vive.
Vidigal Vive is a collective that brings together several NGOs and entities from the Vidigal favela to support the most vulnerable families in the community.
In order to meet the economic and social needs brought about by COVID-19, we use technology to our advantage and transform the way aid distribution has always happened here.
We created a system that maps the needs of the favela, making this support reach those who need it most. In addition to making donations to families, we encourage the creation of jobs, remunerating the work of residents in operations, making the local economy spin. And this gear starts with your solidarity.
